Back Weight compensation system for ExoMars Rover tests

Weight compensation system for ExoMars Rover tests

Date: 08 July 2010
Copyright: Thales Alenia Space - Italia

This photograph shows the weight compensation system - constructed using a low-frequency spring system - that is used to reproduce the correct mass-to-weight ratio that will be experienced by the ExoMars Rover on Mars (about 270 kg per 1000 N).

The photograph was taken during a series of tests that were performed at the premises of Thales Alenia Space (TAS-I) in December 2009. The purpose of these tests was to verify the performance of the Drill when installed on the Rover vehicle.
