MicroARES will measure atmospheric electrification; the ARES stands for Atmospheric Radiation and Electricity Sensor.

The other sensors on the DREAMS (Dust Characterisation, Risk Assessment, and Environment Analyser on the Martian Surface) package are:
MetWind – to measure the local wind speed and direction;
DREAMS-H – to measure humidity;
DREAMS-P – to measure pressure;
MarsTem – to measure surface temperature; and
SIS (Solar Irradiance Sensor) – to measure the transparency of the atmosphere.
