The 2020 mission of the ExoMars programme will deliver a European rover and a Russian surface platform to the surface of Mars. This image shows a front view of the rover.

ESA's rover will be the first capable of drilling 2 m into Mars, where ancient biomarkers may still be preserved from the harsh radiation environment on the surface. The drill is shown here in a vertical position.

ExoMars is a joint endeavour between ESA and Roscosmos, with important contribution from NASA.

Note: a version of this image with a transparent background and a clean cut out of the rover is available here [6000×3376 png, 5.6 MB].
